DORAL – Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and reigning U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell will take the tee together this Thursday at Doral in the WGC-Cadillac Championship. Abandoning a supposed random process, the tour admittedly paired the 3 together creating a marquee grouping that is an absolute must see.

Despite being at or near the top of the rankings for most of the past decade, Woods and Mickelson are almost never grouped together to start a tournament. The last time it occurred during a non-major championship was at the 2007 Deutsche Bank Championship, where the pairings were based on FedEx Cup points. Prior to that, they were paired at the 2002 Tour Championship, which was based on the money list. (Pairings and Tee Times)

Exciting! I think the tour should do this more often. Why do pairings have to random? They have a product, they should sell it! I cant wait…
